“Okutupepe! my country people, matter don pass Matthias for this new ogbonge action comedy…Nkem Owoh,Nkem Owoh,Nkem Owoh o!,ya latest pass Rambo1,2,3,and 4,all join! NWA SAGA!…grab ya copy now!” By now, most nollywood fans must be so used to such movie hypes that they can say them off hand. Here is the point.Although Nigeria’s nollywood is one of the biggest movie industries across the globe, more things can still be done to make it Africa’s pride.
How about romancing the nollywood audience? Like an acceptable norm, movies are expected to entertain and enlighten. In other words, through them,we learn to enjoy and live with the latest trends. This way, something worthwhile,is often added to our lives via 90 percent of the movie experience.I believe this obtains in India’s bollywood and USA’s hollywood.
Who says we can’t do much more in nollywood rather than spending lots of money producing and patronising home videos which celebrate mediocrity and frivolity?
This should renew people’s love for nollywood movies all over the world. From here, let our movie makers start romancing us afresh.
