STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
LUND UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS AND MANAGEMENT -ACCOUNTING AND MANAGEMENT CONTROL
I am a young man from Nigeria .I have a B.Sc degree in Accounting from University of Ilorin, Nigeria. I am interested in studying at the Institute of Chartered Accountant of Nigeria because I believe that the certified certificate will prepares me for a professional career in financial accounting, public sector accounting, consultancy and management control. I chose Accounting a because it will help me to contribute significantly to the financial sector of Nigeria, Africa and the international organizations and companies. I would count it a great privilege to study at the Institute of Chartered Accountant of Nigeria because of its reputation of academics rigor and professional success assures me that I will receive the highest quality education possible, delivered by highly respected professors in the field.
Nigeria is a country is a country that has witnessed expensive economic growth in crude oil sector and banking sector in the past 7 years, undergoing tremendous economic reforms. However, Nigeria requires the knowledge and skills of true professionals; people who are determined to pursue deeper theoretical insight while consistently honing practical financial reporting and management control that will contribute significant improvement to the nation’s economy. As a result of my intellectual abilities and academic achievement, I believe that in order to realize my full potential and make the most effective contribution to the economy of Nigeria and Africa, it is necessary for me to pursue a certified certificate of the Institute of Chartered Accountant of Nigeria.
After graduating as one of the best student from Army Day Secondary School, Nigeria; considered as one of the most discipled school in Nigeria,
I gained admission to study Accounting in University of Ilorin. Through perseverance, hard work and disciple, I have been honored Degree of Bachelor of Science – Second Class Upper Division in Accounting. I believe that my background in Accounting has prepared me for a career in Accounting and Management Control. My four years of accounting education have provided me with a strong background in Accounting and Management.
Upon graduating from University of Ilorin, I joined the Millennium Development Goals Advocacy Project (MDGs) as a knowledge facilitator. I lectured student from secondary school in Northerner part of Nigeria on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and how the MDGs can improve their standard of living using the available resources within their reach. I was an active members of MDGs Project facilitator in the Northern part of Nigeria. My broad range of skills and interests is also evident in the fact that I received a certificate for implementing the MDGs Advocacy Project, 2008, in Gombe State, Nigeria.
I was offered a job in August, 2009, by the Kwara State Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, Nigeria, as a statistician. I have learnt a lot on my present job. With the rest of my team, we provide the government of Nigeria socio-economic data to formulate the National and State Budget. We supplied the government statistics on unemployment rate, inflation rate, stock market, health, agriculture, transport, national resource and education enrolment.
I have enrolled for the Professional Examination II of the Institute of Chartered Accountant of Nigeria (ICAN). ICAN is an international recognized Accounting body and it is a member of International Federation of Accountant and Nigeria Accounting Standard Board. ICAN produces the best accountants in Nigeria, both ethically and professionally.
Learning about new cultures, languages and discovering the different ways of life of those who came from different backgrounds is one of my curiosity. Another reason why I am applying to Lund University is because it is known for its high percentage of international student and the celebration of diversity of race.
I believe that the right education opens many doors for advancement in the field of one’s choice. Lund University is an ideal place for me to do Master’s Degree Programme in Accounting and Management Control because I want a great University that will prepares me for a professional career in financial accounting, public sector accounting, consultancy and management control. I hope that the admission committee finds my background and goals commensurate with the requirements of Lund University Master’s Degree programme in Accounting and Management.
