Computer Speed(Computer Performance) Improvement: Hard Disk Defragmentation

Another computer speed and performance improvement tip is hard disk defragmentation. This is the process of reorganizing the files on the disk to foster quick access and retrieval of files. Fragmentation (scattered arrangement of files on the disk) occurs as a result saving and deleting files on the disk  that create spaces on the hard disk the  system sees as used spaces. It causes low access and retrieval data from the hard disk. Hard disk defragmentation can be achieved using disk defragmentation tools provided by windows. Below is how to defragment a hard disk.

How to defragment a hard disk:

Step one:
Open “My Computer”, right click  Drive C: (drive C: contain the temporary files and deleted files since it host the applications and window) and select property.

Step two:
Click on the “Tool” tab and select “Defragment Now…”

Step three:
Click “Analyze” to enable you check is the hard disk is due for defragmentation.

Step four:
On the dialog box, choose “Defragment” if the hard disk is due for defragmentation else view report and close.

Note:
1.) Do not close the “Disk Defragmenter” window during defragmentation.
2.) This should be done regularly based on the volume of data storage on the system.
3.) This is for widows only.

This might look simple and easy but it improves your computer speed and computer performance to some extend especially while working.

I hope the information is helpful to you but incase of suggestion or difficulties submit kindly submit your comment and it be attended to.
