I have had the privilege of Teaching Senior senior school student geography twice. Once during my National youth service and presently in my voluntary teaching work.
This question of Sun and its planet I have always found interesting. My teaching is post delisting of Pluto in 2006. Our senior secondary school curricula still the subject on Solar system- the sun and its 9 Planets. which should not be.
Well they said science is dynamic so I expect instant changes in matter of immense importance like this. We have always been thought there are 9 planets but all of a sudden there where evidence to delist pluto as a planet. This should be instantly communicated to us and our curricula changed too but reflecting what has always been accepted before now.Interestingly I searched Wikipedia for 9 planets and my result said redirected from Nine planet and it talked about only the 8 planets. that is how it should be in our curricula.
I dont remember seeing any advert in our electronic/ print media to promote this. So how are we promoting and developing our educational sector?
