It never ceases to surprise me why our higher institutions lecturers must always go on strike to be heard.
The latest is that of state owned university in the eastern part of Nigeria. They down their tools in protest of poor wage structure. The major strikes by lecturer have always been about their pay structure really. They do have a point though.
I have a suggestion really. During my primary and secondary school days, we used to have parents teacher association and meetings. When there were issues to be resolved, these meetings are called for. Those issues ranges from student, parents (financial part most times), and teachers issues. Not that we don’t have issues unresolved those days but it helped resolved most issues.
I am suggesting that our university system adopt this system and see if it won’t help avoid most strikes.
