MY CHILDREN WILL DO IT DIFFERENTLY!

I’m too young to be looking back at my life with nostalgia, hoping that my children will do it differently. However, I am old enough to know that I have made mistakes and smart enough to know that I will continue to make them.

There are many things that I’ve done or I will do that I hope to God that my children never do. This is one list that I am sure that most people in the world would second, some more so than others due to the size and consequences of their mistakes.

I’m dividing this into two sections- things that I’ve done and things that I will do that I hope my children never do.

THINGS I HAVE DONE

  1. Grew up too fast- Growing up is like opening Pandora’ s box. Once it’s opened it can’t be shut, so why oh why shouldn’t it be delayed as long as possible. Let the age of innocence continue.
  2. Disrespected my folks- Yes, the ultimate payback is having children that will do to you what you did to your parents. I hope not!
  3. Read romance novels- Yes, I admit it. Those books have ruined me for the world but they will not get my babies!
  4. Watched way too much TV- Lord, save my kids from the corrupter that keeps on corrupting.
  5. Gone to Boarding school- While this was very entertaining, it was also an eye opener. I learnt more from one year in boarding school than any twelve year old ever should.
  6. Marry for money- Just joking. That’s not one of my regrets…yet.

THINGS I WILL DO

  1. Disrespect my parents- I’m young, I’m stubborn, and I’m human, it’s inevitable.
  2. Get married too young- No children of mine should marry before the ripe old age of twenty five. At least, that way they’ll be sure they know what they’re doing.
  3. Write for a living- There has to easier, less emotional career paths for my kids. Let’s hope that they find them
  4. Make mistakes- I will make them and so will my children, but I can certainly hope that they won’t regardless.
  5. Live in a foreign country- I know that I will be one of those parent’s who have separation anxiety ( fear to part from one’s children) so I hope that they never go too far.

What’s your list? I’m dying to find out!
