I am not a child activist or anything like that; I’m just the voice of the child that looks up to you for help. I might not be your own child, I might not even be related to you by any means, but I need your help one way or the other.
Every night, at least one child goes to bed hungry and yet, another child goes to bed overfed. A child wakes up in the morning thinking of how to go about to find him something to eat, yet another child wakes up thinking of how to get the latest games.
Life has never really being equal just as the fingers are not equal, but the pride of a man lies not in the wealth he has been able to gather for himself, but in the number of lives that can testify to being blessed by his wealth. It is highly unacceptable and inhuman to pass by a well meaning and sane yet suffering child on the street and instead of giving a helping hand to the child, you even add to the horrors of the child by splashing muddy water on him just because you have a car or even throwing wraps of the things your own kids just ate at him, just because you want to let him know your own children are not on the streets.
Have you forgotten that tables can turn and the child you do horrible things today can become one of two things tomorrow, either he becomes the wealthy man that will do the same thing to children that might be your grandchildren or he becomes the rogue or armed robber that will be detrimental to you in the long run?
The effect of that little help you render to the child on the street has great benefits in the future. The significance of what you do to people is easily imprinted on your own children. If you do it right, your children will do same and much more and if you don’t, they will do the same and even worse to other children. What then is the future generation we are building?
Give a child a helping hand today, it won’t hurt you and even if it does, the child will one day grow into a man and put balm where it hurts to soothe you.
