What happens when humans are confined within a confinement, restricted totally from all of life’s activities that normally take them out of their comfort zones? Now imagine that these same individuals are subjected to doing the same tasks and activities over a minimum space of time, maybe some days or some weeks.
A typical life illustration of this is seen in the life lived by corpers in the orientation camps, Big Brother Africa and several reality shows on TV are also similar examples; this is to mention a few. Most people in such situations, act on impulse ,out of pressure or out of sheer lack of forethoughtfulness; otherwise why are there repetitive cases of married corpers decamped because of their unrestrained sexual practices on camp, why do copers suddenly think they have soul mates in the opposite sexes in such a short while of meeting them? Why should the male corper have a sudden interest in paying for a girls meals at the mammy market all through her stay on the camp, something he could not have been caught dead doing before stepping his feet into camp? Or why do people find their ‘potential spouses’ amongst just a tiny-bit fraction of Nigerian females represented in the camps, in the course of a 3-week orientation exercise ; as opposed to the females these same people have known over a more extended period of time take for instance, in an entire institution, a State or a Nation they are identified with?
After much pondering on this I suffice to say: ‘out of all unfriendly situations in the life of humans, we have an inherent ability to create opportunities even within a short period of time when it seems like life has no provision for you to do all you think should be normal
