One of the frontal scenes of the movie -Avatar -features Jake and his colleagues being deployed to Pandora. Permit me to ask a stupid question. Can you bet on a soldier to survive at the battle front on a wheelchair? Ok, let’s break it down further; if you were that soldier on wheelchair, can you bet on yourself?
I took a cursory look at life and I confirmed the cliché that life indeed is a struggle; a struggle between our circumstances and our determination. Jake’s disadvantage is revealed right from the point of disembarkment where he lags behind because of his impaired movement. Yet while he struggles to saddle his rucksack, Jake says, “…I told myself I could pass any test Tom made it past…”
What sort of mental positivity surpasses this? I feel bad whenever I hear someone murder possibilities in his/her own life with “I can’t”, the most potent instrument of suicide. If you don’t believe in your own possibilities, then nobody is likely to waste his time believing in you. You have to see it for yourself first. Look in the mirror and package your own life like a product; can you make convincing selling recommendations that would make a potential buyer want to write a cheque? If not, then you need to take time and convince yourself of your own possibilities before life can open up to you. God bless Les Brown for this line, “Life has no limitations; except the ones you make.” You are the architect of your own success in the cause to bridge the gap between your present and your desired future. A very vital input, however, is your recognition of the fact that no bridge can stand without that has already collapsed within.
Now don’t say you were not warned that dream killers will always come along. Just as Jake struggles to ramp down the plane, a crowd of senior colleagues say, “…look at that guy on wheels…! Oh men, that is just wrong…!” As much as you play deaf to the ‘boos’ of your ‘circumstances’, some bastards will still come along to remind you of them. They will come with words like, “How the hell do you plan to rise to 2-1 from 3rd class in two semesters? Do you think you can beat that record? Come off it, not just anybody can play the guitar! You want to set up your own business, na yams?”
Roar a thunderous “Get off my back!!!” in their faces! Whoever says photocopy is not easy is probably using a bad machine! Fuel your determination with the steam of your rage, visualize that stupid look on their faces by the time you get it done and go for it with all the strength in you.
