The saving

It was a Sunday morning, and there was no electricity supply. I needed to straighten my clothes, and I almost despaired….suddenly the lights came on and I positively whooped for joy. I turned on the iron and got the job done…then I went off to shower and be on my way. I was excited about going to church, I loved the lord and I respected his servant…I was glad my clothes were all ironed and good to go…in the shower, I thought/said “God has done everything I need him to do for me today”. I was that excited at what I had achieved…I boarded a bike to church, in my pretty, ironed dress, all ready to go worship the Lord…2 minutes from my destination, the bike rider drove into a pothole, and we were both catapulted from the bike…my dress all torn up, bruised, burnt and bleeding…I shouted in frustration! I would not go to church! Amazingly, even in my pain those where my regrets…that was 4 years ago…today I realize, I had told God I no longer needed him; it was sufficient that I could iron my clothes, so  give yourself a vacation from caring for me… and He did…for a split second, I think He really did.
