True success cannot be specifically defined for the masses because success can be defined quite differently by each individual. True success is subject to individual interpretation based on upbringing, past experiences, role models, personal motivations and goals.
Your view of true success will change at various times and with certain experiences throughout your life. For example, what might be deemed successful in college or on your first job is very different from successfully raising a family or comfortably retiring in the Bahamas. Accumulating a certain amount of wealth is one measure, but a successful marriage may be far more meaningful to many people.
Most people who achieve true success first define it then plan for it; they set a goal to achieve it. Once they define what it means to achieve true success, the next step is to set goals that will lead a person to his definition of success. Many people believe that true success is measured by the size of a bank account or a wall full of diplomas. But there is more to being successful than becoming a millionaire, achieving social status, or collecting degrees, certificates, or accolades.
Many people have been pursuing success for years and years. Others start towards it and seem to find it almost immediately. Success to most people occurs when they have an ongoing string of accomplishments. When put together, these accomplishments add up to a major obtainment in life known as Success. It is why some people explode out of the gates and create success easily, while others struggle all their life.
True success is almost a magical idea for a lot of people. Something born out of a fairytale. On the contrary, true success should be a realistic goal to reach if you take the correct pathway. Your initial pathway might consist of the following:
1. Create a realistic goal and have viable plans to achieve this goal.
2. List all the obstacles standing between you and the goal.
3. Take each obstacle one at a time.
4. Write one or more ways the obstacle could be overcome.
But these steps are just the beginning.
