The Director General of the NYSC, Brigadier General Maharazu Tsiga recently paid a courtesy visit to corps members at the Minna Zonal office in Chanchaga Local Government Area. The Director of Administration, Alhaji Ahmed Abba Tanko and the Director of Public Relations accompanied him on the visit.
The State Coordinator, Dauda Daniel Dauda Esq. in his welcome address disclosed that the office is the center of the Niger State Chapter of NYSC where corps members are monitored. The coordinator also commended the Director General and the entire people of Niger State for making the NYSC-MDG Awards that took place earlier a success.
Delivering his speech, the DG stated that the purpose of his visit was to say ‘hello’ and share a few things with the corps members especially in the aspects of security, success and dedication
On the issue of security, the DG assured the corps members that their security is of utmost priority and the statutory responsibility of the NYSC officials although they also need to play their own part by being careful and watchful.
The NYSC boss also noted that corps members must be pushed and motivated to succeed. He likened them to notable Nigerians who were once serving corps members, such as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, himself and a host of others, stressing that if they could succeed to such heights, the corps members can go thus far.
On corps members allowance, the NYSC boss made it known that a letter has been written to its effect and still awaiting approval from the federal government. He however urged corps members to shun the rumors on increment and indulge in prayers while the struggle continues.
In a show of the goodwill, the DG gave corps members the sum of three hundred thousand naira and advised them to respect themselves and uphold the good names of their families at all times.
