The statement that the world is a global village holds true and the world will keep getting smaller. One of the biggest contributors of globalization is the internet.To say the internet is one of the necessary facilitators for the development of developing countries is an understatement. Nigeria being a developing ,it would make alot of sense if internet services are readily available.
Unfortunately,that is not the case.Internet service providers (called isp) are taking advantage of most Nigerians that are not so IT literate.A comparis0n with internet cost in a country like Cyprus shows that about the cheapest internet service in Nigeria that is 100hours of broadband speed provided by some ISP’s is about 7 times what a resident of cyprus pays(30 euros for 1 month 24/7 service).
Internet services is necessary for the development of Nigeria and the world at large this an article to create awareness to internet users of how we are being exploited and to rally and stand up against exploitation from internet service providers and to plea with the NCC(Nigerian communication commission)to please come to the rescue of internet users.
