Globacom Raises Telecom’s Standards

Nigeria’s second national carrier Glaobacom has set the pace again, by formally introducing its $600 billion submarine cable.

It is expected that the introduction of the cable would reduce the price of internet connectivity in the country drastically. Popularly called Glo1, the submarine cable is expected to cut the price of using the internet by 40%; it is to be effective before Nigeria’s 50th anniversary on October 1st.

Mohammed Jameel, the Group Chief Operating Officer of Globacom said, “The first phase of the investment which is expected to connect all West Africa countries, costing the company over $600 million “. The second phase of the investment would involve the South part of Africa, Eastern Africa and London is expected to cost the same amount.

Jameel further said, “We are sure Glo1 will avail to our customers an excellent communications network and a cost-effective network”. The Glo1 cable will offer attractive rates, long term partnership among others, which would result in enhanced profitability for the customers through flexible terms of contracts, tailor made for customers type and need.
