How to use time wisely

How much does it Cost?

How much does it cost to give birth to a child? 9months
How much does it cost to grow a full 32 set in your mouth? About 18years
How much does it cost to get a driver’s license? Depending on your country, 18-21years
How much does it cost to get to the top of your career? Depending on what you’re willing to give to it, it could cost as much as 20years.
How much does it cost to get a university degree? 3years, if you’re very “rich” less than that.
These are all matters of our lives, and they are measured not in terms of cash but in terms of time.
The average human is 40-80years rich, but what do we do with our money?

The currency of life

Time truly is the currency of life, but many of us take it for granted. Everything in life is a matter of time and a function of time; we purchase things by the time we invest into them. so if a person who spends all his earning on food and drinks shouldn’t be surprised that he little left to invest and spend on meaningful things, why do we expect to have so much from life when we spend our money (that is time) on things  that have no enduring value?

They say if you spend an hour everyday reading on a particular subject, in 10 years, you will become an authority in it. So what will happen if you spend 5 hours daily on the subject, then you should become an expert in just 2 years.

Drawing a budget for life

Nations start the year with a budget, so do great companies, families and individuals. Anyone who hasn’t learnt to budget is living a life without regulations or restrictions. Such a person is far more likely to waste money. In the same way, anyone who starts a year, month, week or even day without a time budget is far more likely to waste it, as anything can comes along will seem like a good idea.

In simple terms: LEARN TO PLAN YOUR TIME

How to plan your time

  • The first step is to realize you need to plan your time
  • Prioritize all that you need to do, and assign time slots to them
  • Assign regular and periodic time slots to things that require days, weeks, months or even year to accomplish. This will ensure you invest a measurable amount of time regularly to it, so you can predict how long it will take you to master it.
  • Do not plan activities back-to-back, leave 30minutes to an hour gap between activities in case one needs to be prolongs, so you aren’t chocked.
  • Plan rest and relaxation time too, all work and no play can actually get Jack killed.

Does it all sound mechanical? You may say it takes the fun and spontaneity out of life but I assure you, life will be no fun in the future when you realize that the time you should have invested was spent. Invest your time now, you’ll know when to relax.
