Persecution

Romans 5.3:

There’s more to come: We continue to shout our praise even when we’re hemmed in with troubles, because we know how troubles can develop passionate patience in us, and how that patience in turn forges the tempered steel of virtue, keeping us alert for whatever God will do next. In alert expectancy such as this, we’re never left feeling shortchanged. Quite the contrary—we can’t round up enough containers to hold everything God generously pours into our lives through the Holy Spirit!

(The Message)

Okay, so I got back from a really stressful journey few days back. It wasn’t funny at all though I never asked “Why” all through that journey. It was fun, in some way as I made new friends. Nonetheless I was eager to get home and get a good sleep after the stress.

Anyway, I was thinking about Jesus today and the Delirious? Song “History Maker” and I was so moved. Why was I moved? Simple! Not many people in the world today want to live for truth; most people want to go with the ‘flow’ , dance to the world’s tunes; not many want to stand for truth and be identified with Jesus. Part of the reason my journey was stressful was ‘cause I was victimized! Years back, when I got in the university as a new student at the age of 17, I made a decision to keep being pure for God. This decision probably didn’t go down well with a certain lecturer in my department. He’d asked me so many times to date him, I refused. This earned me punishment as he’d fail me on purpose and give me the wrong grades. Despite all these, I stood my ground and refused to date him. I mean, this man is married with children… his family is falling apart because of his attitude. I wouldn’t want to come into that situation. What’s more? This man feels he’s God!!!! He never thinks he could ever be wrong and will not tolerate being corrected. I rely on hard work to make good grades and I did make good grades despite his tireless efforts to get me down. Only one word summarizes this: Persecution! I was being treated unfairly because I was standing for the truth! Little did this man know that the more I am persecuted, the more I will keep loving Jesus and standing for truth!

I want to reach out to you today, are you being treated unfairly and about to lose hope? Stand firm! I did. If your fiancé wants to leave you ‘cause you’ve refused to have sex with him, don’t fret! Move on! You did the right thing darling. God will bring you the perfect man for you who will wait to have sex after marriage out of love for you.

Has your spouse left you for another man/woman out of no fault of your own? Don’t lose hope! Move on… the Lord will not leave you. In the end, when you hold on, the rewards will be great and you’d be smiling again.

Have you been falsely accused? Don’t give up. The Lord is right by your side and will not let you go. Justice will be served for the God we worship is the God of justice and truth!

On and on the list goes.

The good news is Jesus Christ has not left your side in all of this… the world may hate you, throw stones at you but God will never condemn you. Believe it! Better to be right in the sight of God than right in the sight of the world.

A line in the song “History Maker” goes…. “I want to be a history maker in this land, I want to be a speaker of truth to all mankind” Live by these words. Live to make a difference. Set yourself apart from the world and live a Godly life, live to impress the Father and not the world. In the end, my dear friend, the rewards will be great”: )

And remember, I believe in you and love you so much. You can do it!
