THE TWIN PERSONALITY IN EVERY MAN

The body of human beings, while being observed from a philosopher’s perspective is observed to have a very complex make-up. This fact is further buttressed by the fact that everything going on in the body takes place in kind of crisis state, which is adequately managed by an ‘expert crisis manager’ called the brain.

Without getting too philosophical, the human body can be compared to the coin which has two sides. This can be explained further by saying that our body is a carrier or a container of a very unique and dynamic set of Siamese twins. They are quite dynamic in the sense that that, they are a pair of twins with just one head, one  body ,one mouth, and just one of every other facility or mechanism being used for expression of their actions.

To every human, there is always the ‘not very good’ side (referred to after here as the ‘fair side’) and the very good side. Taking these two as individual personalities; they get to fight, argue, and reason at the same time in the process of deciding  what to say, who to help, what to drink, what to do and what they are not supposed to do. While the very good one says ‘we can afford the needy woman with two hundred naira ,the fair side says ‘I could do a whole lot with that money, you know’, again the fair side could say ‘we can take four bottles of alcohol without getting drunk’ while the very good side says ‘Father said not to drink alcohol’.

In fact they fight on almost every decision but the truth remains that there is no opting out of this partnership, that is in very explicit terms it is “no divorce option” situation which means they have to stay together through the good and the bad times and must also learn to accommodate each other, or else our body would continue in a never- ending state of riot.
