Have you ever been asked the above question? Yes, I believe in one occasion or the other, someone has asked you the question. We’re going to consider it as a topic in this edition, so that we will see how it can help us to organize our lives, correct the mistakes we have made and channel our steps in the right course.
The question is also synonymous to “where are thou?” which God asked Adam in the bible (Gen. 3:9). The funny thing is that the question is a very simple and direct one but those ones concerned did not go direct to answer the question rather, they looked for a logistic means to justify themselves. Let’s not use their own scope to answer the question, so that we’ll get the best from what we are about to discuss.
So, I put the question to you; where are you now and what are you doing at that place? That group you find yourself in higher institution, is that the group you ought to join? The course you are reading or about to go into, is it God’s intention for you? The business you are about to go into, is it God’s plan for you? Now, that you have attained the position you are aspiring, what are you doing with it?
So many people are finding it difficult to succeed in life and their lives are characterized with struggles because they’re not at the right place and they are not doing what they suppose to do in life. Some were driven to where they are, because of the circumstances that surrounded their upbringing while some are because they saw others succeeding in that area, they decided to go in that direction, without knowing that God has different plans for different people. I don’t know what your case is, but I have good news for you and that is, God has a good thought concerning you and He’s ever ready to help you out of any problem you find yourself in, only if you can be able to answer the questions; where are you and what are you doing at that place?”
When God asked Adam, where are thou? Instead of him to tell God where he was, he started narrating how he was afraid and naked. That wasn’t the question and that is still the problem we are facing today. Come out plainly and answer the question, so that the person will know where to come in and help you. A young man was asked what he was doing for a living, he said he was into clearing and forwarding while in the actual sense, he wasn’t doing anything reasonable. Though he succeeded in deceiving those ones that he had something doing, but if there’s any help that would have come from them, he had missed it. I don’t believe that God will come down to earth to help us out of our problems but He can use people around us to take care of our needs.
Before you take up any course/business, pray and ask God for direction, so that you don’t just dabble into anyone that presents itself. A brother was giving testimony of how he spent 10 years in university. I was baffled but when he narrated how it came to be, I took sides with him. His intention was to read engineering but the father said no, that he must go for medicine. He gained admission and struggled with medicine for about two years. As he was doing that, he was writing Jamb, eventually, he passed Jamb again and dropped medicine in either 200 or 300 level only to go back to 100 level for engineering. Though he wasted time but I like his courage because he discovered what he wanted early enough. Today, he’s happily working with Chevron. It’s not good to force people into a particular course/trade, rather give them counsel and pray for them. Allow them to make the decision by themselves in any area of their lives, so that they won’t have any cause to regret in future.
That position you are occupying in your working place, are you using it to intimidate others? What of the one you are occupying in the church, are you doing what you are supposed to do there? It’s amazing that some people are in a place but they don’t know why they are there. Act 19:32 says that some of them gathered there but they don’t know what they were gathered for. Someone that finds himself in a place without knowing why he is there is bound to remain there without achieving anything.
How far have you gone in life, and your ministry? Pause and answer and then make amendments but if you are still on the right track. Keep it up and never relent.
The Lord Is Our Ebenezer!!
