How To Jailbreak Your iPad

Is it now possible to Jailbreak your iPad?….
The answer to that question is a resounding YES!!! Apple’s very strict policy on the Apple  App Store is not a fresh or hot news item anymore.  This rather worrisome stance that Apple is taking has prevented really cool applications from making their way into the Apple App Store on account not meeting up with some “questionable” standards! But not to worry, help is available if you are willing to reach out for it.Project 365 - Year 2 : Day 228 : 16/08/10

For those of you who are learning about “JAILBREAKING” for the first time, pls refer to my other article “ The Apple iPhone/ iPad Jailbreaking Concept – 8 Facts You Need To Know Before Trying It Out“.  There is a new Jailbreak Tool available now which offers you the opportunity to “restore to factory settings” for Apple mobile devices running firmware 3.1.2, 3.1.3 or 3.2. It is know simply as Spirit. This Jailbreak style belongs to the class of Jailbreak known as Unthethered Jailbreak. In Unthethered Jailbreak, you dont have to plug your device to your computer anytime you reboot it.

So how exactly does this “Spirit” work?

  • First of all, it is important to note that you should be careful not to upgrade your iPad when a new software patch is released. This is because this Jailbreak style capitalizes on security weaknesses in the mobile operating system and Apple usually fixes these laspses when they release software updates.
  • Ensure that you have installed on your computer  latest version of iTunes, then sync your iPad to back up your data files. Note: Your iPad should be running on 3.2 operating system.
  • Visit the Spirit homepage to download the Spirit jailbreak either for mac or pc.
  • Using the USB Cable, connect you iPad to your computer.
  • Double click the downloaded Spirit Jailbreak Application to run it.
  • Click the jailbreak button and your iPad will automatically reboot.
  • Once it has rebooted, you will see the “Cydia” application installed on your iPad. With that, you can access all other “unapproved” applications without any restrictions from Apple.
