“GRATEFULNESS”, A GREAT ASSET.
Imagine when you did something good for somebody and the person never said “thank you”? How does that make you feel? Read this short and learn a lesson from it.
Shola and Chika were neighbors. One day, they both went to the market to buy some food stuffs. Shola ran out of cash. She asked Chika to borrow her some money. She promised to pay her back when they get home. Chika gave her the money. Shola did not thank her neither did she gave her back the money. She concluded inside her that the money is just a small amount for Chika. Chika was not happy with her. She did not ask her about the money. She made up her mind not to help Shola again.
One day, Shola fell sick and needed somebody to help her take care of herself. She called Chika to help her buy something to eat but Chika objected immediately. She told her that she can never help her again.
In the above short story, Shola was ungrateful to what Chike did for her in the past, that is why Chike refused to help her the second time.
Gratefulness is a sincere appreciation for the benefits you have gained from others. There is a saying that goes like this “One good turn deserves another”. When you show gratefulness for a little help rendered to you, you will get greater help in future. Gratefulness motivates one to do more. When you are grateful to your workers for a good job done, they will surely put in their best in the work. Gratefulness expressed through praise is one of the highest motivations for men. It is good for one to have a grateful attitude.
Religiously, it is good to enter God’s presence through praise (Ps 100:4). Our faith in God is proven by our ability to thank him in all circumstances. We must learn to say “thank you Lord” for everything God does in our life.
Gratefulness opens door for successful receiving while ungratefulness closes the door to receiving. It pays to say “Thank You” when somebody does something for you.
