The last 50 years of existence as a nation has birthed a people of strong resolve who have stayed sane and kept fighting on in the face of seeming chaos and extremely daunting circumstances. They say delay makes the heart grow weary but in Nigeria’s case,it has arguably produced some of the strongest citizens of the world who have and would continue to maintain their resolve no matter how intimidating the looming threat becomes.
How else do you explain it when a Nigerian who looks like a mediocre over here, goes abroad and becomes the Genius. This can only be attributed to the various trying circumstances that he has had to soldier through, only to deploy the strength he has gained in a more organized structure which his new environment produces thereby achieving much more only with little effort.
As easy as it is to keep seeing the negatives, and to remain very pessimistic about the future,Nigeria has come a very long way and there are definitely a lot of positives to draw. They may be too numerous to highlight, but just to mention a few,we have a nation that has produced Nobel laureates,Professors and Academics who have patented some new discoveries albeit abroad (some choose to call it brain drain but i prefer to call it exporting our intellectual property).Another very significant part is the explosive combination of our music and Film industry- teaming together to feature as the admirable Nigerian entertainment industry.i could go on and on.
Even if people say that we may be suffering in the midst of plenty,i choose to believe that things are not the way they used to be anymore, they are definitely getting better.Although i keep saying that i am first a realist before an optimist,a saying i maintain strongly; however dicey the reality on ground may look, i am quite optimistic that the future holds better. We just have get to a point where we are really tired of the status quo and then demand a change which would come inevitably because of the very audacity of our demand.Elections are coming early next year, here we can make a change by placing a demand on INEC making sure our vote counts. In that way we can finally determine the fate of our beloved nation.
Nigerians,i am glad to announce to you that its delay not denial;an ability we should fast learn to deploy to our own advantage.God Bless Nigeria.
