Mike is a responsible, hardworking young man. He works with a construction firm where he believes he could get the desired experience to start his own construction business in future. He earns a little below N100,000/month. His young wife, Christy, is a lecturer and earns a little below Mike’s salary. Though Mike strives to live up to his expectation as the head of his family, Christy shoulders most of the house responsibilities. More than 70% of Mike’s income is spent on “his family” – his widowed mother and three younger siblings yet to be employed and back in school. While Christy has been very supportive, she worries as all her income goes on feeding and other responsibilities in the home. More often than not, fixing the car, paying the rent etc, get delayed and sometimes undone until Christy initiates the payment. Mike’s appreciative and wishes he could handle his responsibilities without stressing his wife’s income. Christy begin to get more worried now as they expect the arrival of their first baby. There is just not enough Money at Home for this new and very important addition! What would she do?
