HOW TO DISCOVER YOUR IDENTITY PT 5 – LIVE THE IDENTITY YOU DESIRE

Who do you want to be? However you have limited yourself in the past, even if you think your identity is really strong, in order to achieve the identity you want, who would you become? W hat things would you imbibe? Think about it, would you have to become more outrageous, more active rather than passive, more passionate, more disciplined? Whatever you want to be, you need to become it now, not someday. You don’t need to make it a goal you desire to achieve within a stipulated time frame; you need to fuse with that identity. You need to ask yourself, if I’m that kind of person, how will I behave? How will I dress? How will I talk? What would I do when I woke up in the morning? How will I conduct myself in public? How will I treat people? How will I spend my time? What will my priorities be? You need to think about it and literally step into living in the body of that person you desire to be and immediately go out and act that way.

If you want to change your life, conduct yourself as if you were a public figure. Think about how public figures have to live. Think about how they talk, how they live, things they do, and how they conduct their lives generally. If you do that long enough, the quality of your life will literally transform. You can become a public figure before becoming a public figure, if you know what I mean. It’s an amazing experience because you don’t have to behave any different when you become a public  figure than you are behaving now, you won’t have to fake it.

If you’ll start behaving, thinking feeling, and knowing you are the person you’ve been pursuing, I can promise you many of the goals that are way out there, you’ll start experiencing as a reality now, or whatever is necessary to make them real will show up faster than you could ever imagine. That’s the power of identity. Get a vision of who you want to be, bring the picture forward and begin to live in it. Even though the environment around isn’t consistent with it, the conviction of who you are keeps you focused and resilient regardless of the environment. Regardless of what you are earning, what people are saying, your character has to remain constant. The reputation may come and go, but you character is one thing you can count on. So as long as you know who you are, your outside would reflect what you believe to be true inside.

Now let me reiterate this; you have to actually go out and take steps towards becoming the person you’re convinced you are. For example, if you believe you are an intelligent person now, it means once it was an idea, but then you took some tests successfully or graduated with a first class or distinction  and people told you  you’re intelligent, and so what used to be an idea became a solid belief, a conviction. Don’t limit yourself; you can become who you want to be.
