It is very important to be clear to yourself about who you are, because there are people and beliefs out there willing to do so for you. Your conviction about who you are must get to point where nobody can sway you away from it, regardless of your not getting your desired results. In our societies today, there are certain established patterns that are used to ascertain if a person is a certain way or not. Take for example; some men believe that before you can be called a man, you have to prove yourself by drinking. What am I saying here? Our environment reinforces or takes away from our identity, that’s why we have to decide daily what we want within ourselves. Going out to join the drinking club surely isn’t the right identity for you, you’ve got to create your own identity, not to follow the band wagon of what is being fulfilled by others. I must emphasize that getting the right identity for yourself is important because as long as you consider yourself to be a certain way, no matter how hard you try to get away from that belief, you’ll find yourself taking steps to that person you’re convinced you are. For example if you consider yourself to be overweight, no matter the weight loss programmers you attend, you’ll still find yourself over eating and soon you’ll be back to that overweight. Why? Because that has been your conviction about yourself.
You know what? Most people know they are capable of accomplishing one feat or the other, but when you do something that’s when the difference is made, and then when you finally get to do it, and then you realize it wasn’t as difficult as you thought, because nothing really is as difficult as it seems, and then they are enforced to do more and when they consider the magnitude of their accomplishments, other things that used to seem impossible are not viewed the same way anymore.
Many have been influenced by certain patterns or cultural values. That if you are feeling a certain way, you should act or do a certain thing to get out of it. For example some people think that the way to get out of pain is to go drink or take some hard drugs, which seem to take away the pain temporarily but leaves them in a long lasting disaster so difficult to get out of. Your life is defined by your beliefs and convictions of who you are. That is the essence of what is controlling you, and if you ever try to change your behavior and it didn’t last, it’s because you changed the behavior for a moment but didn’t change the controlling force.
You must become aware of the unconscious beliefs you’ve built in your heart about who you are. And whatever it is you choose to believe about yourself, know that you’ll always have references to back up those beliefs. The fact that you’ve believed something in the past doesn’t make it true. After you’ve identified those unconscious beliefs, then begin to question them. Can you change your entire life regardless of how you’ve been in the past? Yes you can! You can be anything or anyone you desire to be, you have the capacity, you’re bigger than any challenge you can ever meet in your life. Your life represents a miracle.
