A lady killed her mother in Surulere, Lagos, said she has regretted her action


A lady, who is awaiting trial at the Kirikiri Prisons, Lagos, for allegedly killing her mother in Surulere, Lagos, said she has regretted her action.

She also claimed to have given her life to Christ while in prison.

Adebukola Adefisayo allegedly have killed her mother Mrs. Adedoyin Adebanwo, 62, with a sledge hammer, in their house on August 2009, after a free for-all.

Her remorse, which stunned the audience was expressed at the weekend, during an event tagged: “Say no to crime;” which was held at the female section of the Kirikiri pris­ons.

She confessed getting involved in drugs addiction, prostitution and theft.

The accused person said the bad habits are now history since according to her, she had fully repented.

She recalled how she was taken to a Rehabilitation Centre, where a psychiatrist attended to her.

“I had all the opportunity in life, I was born with silver spoon. I liked people that were very tough and rough. After that, I was smoking cocaine and heroin. I started to engage in prostitution and robbing men of their money. I lived in Las Vegas. They brought me to Lagos and took me to a Psychiatric Hospital. Now, I’m in this prison for killing my mother. I have regretted my action. And I have given my life to Christ.

“God has blessed me. He gave me a new lease of life. He blessed me. Before, I was a drug addict, now, I say no to crime and no to drug. God is the reason I came from Las Vegas to Lagos and now in prison. I was a queen, I have learnt a lot since few months ago.”

The lady proved to be a bundle of talents as she received a standing ovation, after she per­formed a song entitled, “I’m ready.”

In her song, Adefisayo pleaded with God to use her as she is now ready. She also prom­ised to be a better person and a shining exam­ple as a repented inmate.

She also presented the portrait of the Controller of Prisons, Lagos State Command, Mr. Abayomi Oguntuase, which she personally drew, to him.

Among the dignitaries who attended the event included, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa. Chairman, Committee of Nigerians in Diaspora.

She represented members of the House. She urged the inmates to be hopeful and change for the better. Dabiri-Erewa said she came to boost their morale and to encourage them to ‘say no to crime’.

Renowned artiste, Onyeka Onwenu and Dabiri-Erewa later danced with the female inmates. Musicians, comedians .who per­formed on the occasion included, the twin musicians Mamuzee, United -5. Shan Gorge, Ani, and AY.com.
