Cyclist rider jailed for violating traffic rules
An Okada rider (commercial motorcyclist), Peter Alibi, was on Wednesday sentenced to three months imprisonment for causing obstruction, driving without license and identification mark.
Chief Magistrate Ahmed Shuaibu pronounced the sentence after Alibi pleaded guilty to the charges brought against him.
The cyclist was however given an option of N5,000 fine.
Police prosecutor, Corporal Silas Nanpan, told the court that the convict was on November 28 arrested by a team of police men at Nyanya Divisional Headquarter in Abuja.
Nanpan also told the court that the convict violated a one way traffic rule without regards for other road users and committed offences contrary to Section 39(3) of the Road Traffic Act and Sections 10( 1) and 11 (2) of the Federal High Way Act. (NAN).
