Driver charged  for Stealing a handset

A 27-year-old driver was on Thurs­day arraigned before an Abuja Mag­istrate Court for allegedly stealing a handset belonging to one Alhaji Ali Baba Abdullahi.

Timothy Eze of Karu village, Abuja, was accused of joint act and theft, offences contrary to Sections 79 and 287 of the Penal Code.

Police prosecutor, Udeh David, informed the court that on January 10, one Abudullahi reported at Wuse Police Station that while he was entering a bus at the Wuse bus stop, the accused and three other now at large jointly attacked him and stole his handset worth N140,000.

He said that the accused confessed to the crime during police investigations.

When the charges were read to the accused, he pleaded not guilty and requested for bail.

Magistrate Vera Tom Tukura granted the accused bail in the sum of  N100,000 with a reliable surety, who must be resident within the  court’s jurisdiction.

The case was adjourned to February 13th for hearing.
