HOUSE HELP IN COURT OVER BREACH OF TRUST

THE police Monday arraigned a 26-year-old house help before an Abuja Magistrate Court for alleged criminal breach of trust and cheating, crimes involving N2.5 million.

Saidu Thomas, a house help to Hon­ourable Kabir Abdullahi, was said to have received N2.5 million from one Saidu Adamu Jalo, a personal assistant to the lawmaker for safekeeping till the next day. When the personal assistant demanded for the said money the next day, the accused had converted it to his personal use, offences punishable under Sections 312 and 322 of the Penal Code.

Police prosecutor, Adoche Isenyo, an inspector, told the court that on September , 23, one Saidu Thomas Shaibu 01 No 7, Jim Nwobodo Street, Apo Legislative Quarters Abuja, collected N2,590,500 from the personal assistant to the lawmaker.

“The personal assistant gave the at person the money to keep for him till the next day, with an agreement that he collect it back on the said date, but accused converted the said money to his personal use, “the prosecutor said.

When the charges were read to the accused, he denied the allegations and applied for bail, a request that was granted by Magistrate Emmanuel lyanna in the sum of N500.000 with a responsible surety in like sum.

The case was adjourned to December 1st 2010 for hearing
