TRADER JAILED ONE WEEK FOR BREAKING BUCKET
A 30 year old trader was yesterday sentenced to one week imprisonment for damaging items at Wuse Zone 5 Motor Park.
The accused, Okechukwu Odoh of Wuse market was arraigned on a one -count charged of mischief, an offence Punishable under Section 322 of the Penal Code Law.
The prosecutor, Adamu Abdullahi, hard earlier told the court that on October 16, 2010, one Arinze Chukwu, reported to the police that the accused damaged his bench, bucket and table all valued at N10, 000.
The accused pleaded guilty to the charge and begged the court for leniency, saying the damaged the items out of annoyance because the compliant slapped him and ran away.
The prosecutor urged the court to try the accused summarily under Section 157 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
Magistrate Fatima Malo sentenced the accused to one week imprisonment with a fine option of N10,000.
