Robbers Attacked Maiduguri Market Kill a Cop
Armed robbers yesterday attacked shops in Babban Layi, a business district along the Shehu Laminu Way in Maiduguri, killed a policeman and injured many people. One of the robbers was also killed when a combined team of the police and the army launched a counter attack.
Borno State police commissioner Mohammed Abubakar said the robbers disguised themselves by wearing kaftan and turbanis like religious preachers. When our correspondent visited the scene, there was pandemonium as most of the traders who sell motorcycles, paints, textiles and household items left their shops open and fled.
