Security men charged over negligence
Three security men were on Thursday arraigned before an Abuja Upper Area Court for alleged negligence that led to the loss of items worth millions of naira belonging to one Suleiman Momoh of City View, Dalewo, Abuja.
Mike John of Mararaba, Sunday Daniel of Kabusa and Boban Bodo of Mararaba were employed to secure the house of the nominal complainant.
Police prosecutor, Ambi Ayuba, informed the court that on November 18, one Suleiman Momoh of Dalewo Abuja reported at the Garki Police Station that when he returned from a journey during the Sallah holidays, he discovered that his house was broken into and some items stolen.
He listed the stolen items as GNIB card, two laptops, two pairs of suit, a brand new 42 inches television, 1.5 horse power air conditioner, various clothes, Sony camcorder, IPNX modem and router, a mini wrist watch, 26 bottles of perfume and N100,000 cash.
The prosecutor said the three security men, who were on duty could not give satisfactory explanations during police investigations.
When the charges were read to the accused persons, they pleaded not guilty and requested for bail, which was not opposed to by the prosecutor.
Judge Umar Yusuf Kagarko granted the accused bail in the sums of N100, 000 each, with reliable sureties in like sums that must reside within the courts jurisdiction.
The case was adjourned to January 5, 2011 for hearing.
