Suspected car thieves beaten to coma
Two suspected car thieves including an elderly man were on Friday beaten to states of coma after they were caught trying to steal a Honda Accord car at Utako, Abuja.
A witness said the two men attempted to steal a Honda Accord model car parked near NASFAT mosque at Utako, during the Friday prayer.
The owner had joined the Muslim congregation in the prayer, when the suspects smashed the rear door glass of the car and struggled to start the engine.
“A man who observed their acts raised an alarm by shouting thieves which made them take to their heels but they were over powered by a crowd, who beat them to unconsciousness,” he added.
Few minutes after mob action, arrived and took the suspects away.
Utako Divisional Police Officer said the suspects attempted to steal a car from the mosque surrounding and were caught and beaten up.
