Goodluck appoints leaders for Presidential campaign

Senator Dahaltu Tafida has been selected to lead the President Goodluck Jonathan Presidential campaign in the North while Chief Tony Anineh leads the southern campaign
Both belong to the Presidential campaign team comprising of mostly his cabinet members. The team which is yet to be made public will also be campaigning for him for the primaries of the party coming up soon.

The president is also expected to declare his presidential ambition before the end of September 2010 after his consultation with the peoples Democratic Party PDP governors which is already yielding results for him as twenty of them have come out to declare their support with some even saying he is the best candidate for the party for the office of the president.
Other candidates for the seat of the President under the PDP include Former Head of State General Ibrahim Badamoisi Babangida and Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

It would be recalled that President Jonathan succeeded the late president Umaru Musa yaradua who died three and half months ago after a protracted illness Jonathan was his Vice and by constitution succeeded him.

Since that succession there have being rancor amongst members of the PDP especially the Northern caucus who are insisting that by zoning they are entitled to produce a replacement for Yar Adua saying the t Jonathan on that premise should not contest for the seat in 2011.

But the party after there National executive committee meeting held in Abuja recently agreed that the zoning arrangement stays but that President Goodluck can contest too if he wished ending the debate on zoning leaving room for the contestants to prepare to face each other in a primaries to be organized in a soon to known date.
