What comes to your mind when you see a man cry? Wouldyou feel sorry for him or you laugh? Will you see those tears has crocodile tears or you call him a baby or sissy for crying? Would you see him any less a man for crying and you are not in any way less a woman when you cry because you believe women can cry but men cannot? Guys, will you call your friend stupid when he cries with a broken heart? Would you come close to hold him,talk to him,love him and help? Which of these things would you do?
When I say crying men, I don’t mean babies,I don’t mean boys; I mean that tall,handsome guy with the sexy husky voice. I mean the guy you call chairman in your hostel, class or on your street. I mean that cool guy that has everything going for him.I mean that guy that makes you blush whenever he looks into your eyes. You know what I am saying; your hero!
Its very unfortunate in this side of the world (especially in Nigeria) where it is a sign of weakness for a man to cry. I went to a burial ceremony and the son of the deceased was shedding tears for his mother who single handedly brought him up.Then a woman came and said ‘you should not be crying, you are a man; be a man that you are and stop crying’. Can anybody tell me why he should not cry,it is his mother we are talking about here.
I don’t see tears on my mans face or on my friends or my fathers face as weakness; I see the tears has an expression of what is going on inside. I see it as a sign of being human and real. Men are mortals like everybody,they have emotions, they fall in love,they have fears,they live and die. So why are they allowed to laugh, smile, shout,play and do other things and are not free to cry. I don’t expect them to be God.I expect men to LET IT OUT AND MOVE ON. I expect men to SHED THE WEIGHT AND FACE LIFE STRONGER.
My dear men, bottling up grief can keep you away from your one true love, cry when necessary, express your fears(it is allowed).You are fathers; don’t train boys that will be scared to shre his deepest feelings.You are a friend,help him to heal his broken heart;his happiness should be your happiness.
So ladies,when your man cries,talk to him, be logical,help to solve the problem and make him smile again.Every ‘MACHO MAN’ has a boy in him that wants to be held and pampered. REAL MEN CRY!
