I’ve always said the Vision Bearer is different from the Vision Hearer. I’m spurred to illustrate this term as it affects human endeavors. In this context, I will be using two entities: Mr. Paul and Mr. Peter (apology to my friends bearing this name). Let Mr. Paul be the critic and Mr. Peter the accuser. Get this clear, Mr. Paul is only going to criticize Mr. Peter based on what he perceived to be ‘wrong’ or what he wants to be done ‘his way’. To this, his opinion will only be derived from his belief. To Mr. Peter, his way as well seems to be the ‘right way’ and such conclusion is as well generated from his belief. What powered criticism is our individual belief which is been sponsored by various stages of growth, parental upbringing, social influence, a convinced fact etc. The belief Mr. Paul has nurtured for so long will make him see the ‘wrongs’ in Mr. Peter’s perspective. I believe you’re getting the point, criticism is not an ‘act to react to’ but an expression of intention generated from beliefs. As they say, ‘evidence terminates arguments,’ if Mr. Peter wants to have balanced feet, all he needs to do is to politely convince Mr. Paul with a proof of his initial workable belief and if none, give him hope on the workability of the prospects. Sequel to the above, Mr. Peter is the vision bearer; he has got the passion for his prospect. But Mr. Paul being the vision hearer needs to hear and understand Mr. Peter’s mission before he can follow that mission with the needed passion.
Anyone that doesn’t value you will disvalue your content. If you’re not growing in all department of life, then you must be responding to some contrary influence. It’s time you took caution with those you reveal your ‘next step’ to. There shouldn’t be sharing without caring. You must care to study the person you want to share your ideas with. Why? Ideas are fragile and pretty expensive. A man of ideas is like a pregnant woman. The baby in her womb must not just be exposed until delivery time and the mother must care to adhere to medical instructions on nutrition, environment and other factors if the baby’s health and safe delivery is paramount. Now, you can imagine a scenario involving a lad that has worked all night analyzing and propagating the workability of an idea only for him to visit his good friend the next morning to deliberate on the idea and the response was “Oh! This one, it can’t work, because it hasn’t been done before” No doubt his enthusiasm must be at minus one. However, if the response was to be “Wow! Great idea, it hasn’t been done before and that’s the more reason you need to get it done.” I’m sure his passion will be accelerated. The first comment you make or receive concerning a prospect can be a major determinant to its actualization.
You need to be cautious of those you relate with as criticism needs to be critically analyzed. Criticism can affect the intended purpose. Your choice of relationship will determine how constructive or destructive the critics you receive. If you happen to be a ‘big thinker’ or a visionary, you have no relationship with a ‘small mind’ because he will never value your contributions and that’s because you are not at the same level. To avoid a snail-like progress, watch those you mingle with for you not to dwindle. It is impossible to soar with eagles while scratching with turtles!
