A truck of gravel Saturday evening crushed a middle aged woman and mother of nine to death in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital.
The incident, according to witnesses, occurred at Olobayo Estate within the 200 Housing Units in the capital city at about 6.00pm. It was gathered that the truck lost control and rammed into a motorcycle conveying the deceased.
Her body is said to have been deposited at the mortuary in Ankuri Hospital, Lokoja while the motorcycle operator, who was critically injured, is being treated at an undisclosed
Hospital.
The husband of the deceased, Mr. Alhassan Ejike, who spoke to Daily Trusty said, “She left the house with a promise to return in a few minutes. She told me she had already prepared my food. I couldn’t believe it when some people came to tell me what happened. I was told she had an accident, I rushed out of the house but when I got to the scene which is just a few metres away from our residence, I found her crushed beneath the tipper”
The tipper’s driver is said to have been handed over to the Police.
Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) in the state, Mr. Sunday Maku, said his office has not yet been informed about the incident.
