Atiku and IBB in a unpopular race for Nigerian Presidency

Atiku tasted the fascist character of the PDP in 2007 when he attempt to combat the octopus the PDP represents then it became apparent to him that the party no longer needed. He went ahead to lose his ward, local government and state to the party in 2007. What gave him the courage to challenge the party was the safety valve and safeguard rotational presidency. But he failed and will fail miserably again; in as much as there are other considerations other than the interest of Nigeria and Nigerians driving him round political parties.
It is now the turn of the ‘godfather’ himself, the only surviving oracle and Maradona of Nigerian politics. The PDP has proved to Atiku that it is a hard kernel to crack despite his self-acclaimed political prowess and his supposed power of maneuvers. Nigerians are keenly watching as the last man standing has finally decided to engage the very creature that was said to be his own idea.
As a ‘smart’ master tactician, he has the drawn north into a fight that is not hers. That is the tragedy. As a man that is given to insincerity and dishonesty, he fails to carry his own cross alone since he did not consult the ordinary northerners before he declared his ambition to run for presidency. He now remembers the region simply because the party is threatening to consume his ambition of returning to Aso Villa. For this he is hell bent on drawing the north into it. Where were IBB and Atiku when the north and south were agonising over PDP’s imperial expedition of 2003 and 2007 elections? Where was IBB when Atiku and Obasanjo were busy impoverishing Nigerians while linen their pockets? Rather than fighting over rotational presidency of northern contraption that promotes nothing but election rigging (because once the presidency is zoned PDP will ensure the victory of its candidate) I expect IBB to concern himself about Nigeria as a whole, Africa and the world at large, just like his counterparts and contemporaries in Europe and America.
However, as the fight continues to unfold in the days ahead, not only IBB and Atiku are on trial but the PDP as well. Time will reveal which group will retain its prime position. Certainly IBB and Atiku are on trial too as they confront their own sinister creation. Their creature which was created out of selfish desires may turn out to be their nemesis for their countless sins against Nigerians and the north in particular. May God save the north from the political antics of people like IBB and Atiku who have nothing to offer except betrayal, poverty and misery.
