The easiest thing to do in life, it seems, is to complain. We complain about everything. We whine about the things we can change and the ones we cannot change. We grumble about the past, we complain about the future. We nag about not having our needs met, we find faults with the answers to our prayers.
The question is, what does it change?
Change is a word that every one is familiar with. Change is said to be the only thing that is constant. Change is the word that proved the worth between two presidential candidates and when the electorates went to cast in their votes, change was what Americans chose.
We all want change! We want to see changes in our political systems and in our educational institutions. The economy demands change and we desire to see change in almost every facet of life.
We seek change from the outside, from our leaders and from those in places of authority. It is easy to place the blame and cast stones at those we think are responsible for creating the change we seek.
But change starts with YOU! You can and should be responsible for the change you seek.
I agree with Maya Angelou when she says, “If you don’t like something, change it. If you can’t change it, change your attitude.”
You can be the change! Start small, start somewhere! Change your attitude. Change the negative things you say about the improvements you hope to see. Change your paradigm.
I believe that we are responsible for creating the change we seek. Like President Obama once said, “Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.”
And we can accomplish this by answering these questions.
What?
What do you want to change? What is it that annoys and frustrates you? What is the one thing that you would change if you could? (Identify the need or the problem.)
Why?
Why do you desire this change? (Know the benefits of the change you seek.)
How?
How can this change be achieved? (Find a solution. Carry out a research.)
Who?
Who is responsible for implementing this change? (Let me help you here. You are!)
When?
When do you hope to start working towards implementing the desired change? (There is no time like now!)
Write that business plan or proposal!
Create the awareness!
Be the change!
