ADDING VALUE ON THE JOB

ADDING VALUE ON THE JOB
A lot of times we get too carried away with our employer’s calendar. For some, its from 24th of one month to the other; and for some, a month can be up to 40 days… Hmm, funny as it may sound, we have become so entangled with the yoke of the monthly credits in our accounts that we don’t want to do anything else that will obstruct the flow. When I was much younger (pls, don’t ask me how old i have become now), I learnt that though we have a 9-5 commitment to our employers, our 5-9 is ours to account for. I think I should explain that, a lot of us spend averagely between 9am and 5pm everyday in our various offices; that is quite commendable [2Th 3:10 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat. (KJV)] as the scriptures clearly encourage us to apply our hearts and minds. The 5-9 is the time we commit consciously into building our lives and our future. Rather sad however is the fact that so many of us feel so tired and out of shape when we come back from work. Hmm.
I am of the opinion that our present job descriptions might not necessarily be where we are destined to be. A lot of us are involved in these jobs as an introduction into corporate life. Hence we need to start preparing for what we see ourselves doing at least 5ive years from now.
What is that one thing that gives you utmost joy? A lot of people have asked this question but they have not helped us to marry it into our present jobs. Your present job might not be the ‘thing’ but it can serve you on the way to the ‘thing’. Joyce Meyer always says that we should enjoy where we are on the way to where we are going… true
Enjoy the job but don’t get too complacent.
Devote your 5-9 to the things that will matter in your not-too-far future.
Start applying yourself to some of these things.
Trust God ultimately for help.
WE WILL GET THERE!!!
