Court remands man, 28, for murder

A 28-year-old man, Ibrahim Mohammed, charged with the murder of a 60-year-old man, was yesterday remanded in prison by an Ibadan Chief Magistrates’ Court.

The police prosecutor, Insp. Adewale Amos, alleged that the accused murdered one Olusesi Odunlami by inflicting machete cuts on him. The act, he said, was contrary to Section 316 and punishable under Section 319 of the Criminal Code Cap 30 Vol II Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria 2000.

He told the court that the crime was committed on Feb. 4 at about 5.00a.m at Deji Akinbo Street, Oluyole Estate, Ibadan. The plea of the accused was, however, not taken.

Chief Magistrate E A. Badrudeen ordered Mohammed to be remanded in prison custody while legal advice was to be sought from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution.

She adjourned the case to March 15. (NAN)
