Former Banker Accused of Disappearing with People’s Money
A dismissed former bank employee, Mr. Raphael Imoukhedi, has been accused of disappearing with customer’s fund in a cooperative society he formed to give out loans after collecting deposits to certain levels.
A customer, Suleiman Simon, who took the case before Nyanya Customary Court, said the cooperative society’s employees are nowhere to be found since last year.
He said the owner of the society promised to refund the customer’s money early this year through a text message but is still nowhere to found.
“We searched for the bank staff at his bank and were told that he was among those staff the bank dismissed.”
He said the cooperative customers also discovered that the banker had packed out of his apartment to another one in Karu, in the FCT.
Presiding Judge Hauwa Yilwa confirmed that the case is before her and that the counsel to the cooperative society has been absent in the last two court sittings.
