Implication!

That 2face song is very danceable; I know, but it is an adult song. It tells you that when you ‘kolobi’ (what ever that means) your girlfriend’s sister, there will be a consequence. Mostly grave.

However, when you see young children miming that song, you wonder if they know the implication of the Implication. (The pun was incidental). But as tempting as the subject is, this piece is not about 2face and his 5 children- which has become press fodder. Nor is it about lewd lyrics. Every period and society has those.

It is about 14 year old girls going on 20. Those who act older than their ages to get into nightclubs.

Before now, all I felt for older guys that date much younger girls was pure disgust. Now the disgust has reduced barely. Just barely. I have discovered that this girls are complicit in this (for lack of a better word), disgusting cycle.

It seems that these days, our young girls can’t wait to grow up. Forget the clothes that they wear that make men ogle their female features to death; their minds is the issue here. The things they do will make their grandmothers choke. The skills and experience with which they do them, will simply kill the woman.

Two years ago, I had a stint working for a photo company. The place was a mecca for young people. Now this one day, there were some older guys in the reception, being very obnoxious and talking very loudly about the  normal male crap- women, booze and sex while few seats away, a fully uniformed S.S 3 girl sat. Me, being the good, responsible guy that I am (don’t roll your eyes, I am truly!) stepped in and asked the dudes to keep it down because of the innocent girl present. Then the shocking happened: this girl looked me dead in the eye with a calm that was way beyond her years, told me as a matter of fact, ‘I am not innocent’. I did not want to believe that those 4 words meant what I thought they meant, I asked her what she meant it to mean. She told me that she wasn’t a child and she could relate to the X-rated discussion. Later on, she asked and was given my phone number; and sent me a bunch of text messages subsequently, explicitly describing what she would want to do to me and how. I believe words such as job, blow and bang were employed…

I’m not a saint by any means and I like to experiment many things, a 16 year old pro, was just too much (or too little) for me so I passed on the offer. The last thing I told her was to come back in 6 years.

Why then, am I surprised by Montana Fishburne’s fledging career as an 18 year old porn star? It must be the times, say I!

When I was 16, my most pressing need was to pass WAEC and summon the courage to say hi to girls. Maybe I was a nerd and I’m pretty sure that I wasn’t, but I didn’t know how to have sex and quite frankly, the idea scared me.

Only 10 years later now, there has been a horrible paradigm shift. Nothing is taboo anymore. Young people now know and do things their parents didn’t do till 30!

We might blame MTV and E!  and Beyonce but the truth of the matter is that the responsibility of raising good children is sole the parents’. No one’s going to raise your child for you. Not in these days of litigation and pedophilia. All we can do is to keep ours in order. The only problem is, I hope parents know. If they themselves are wayward, the future is not only doomed, it is already destroyed from now. Lord help us.
