LIFE’S LESSONS LEARNT FROM THE GAME OF FOOTBALL
Good day class! Welcome to this great institution- where we teach you how to live a better live and better the lives of others. For today’s lecture, We will be discussing life’s lessons learnt from the game of football. So many of us are football addicts anything that bears the name of football catches our fancy, but often times we just flow in the currents of the fun and excitement the game carries with it, without learning the lessons of life it teaches.
LESSON 1
You as a player in life’s game needs a coach: Every great football player leverages on the experience, expertise and skills of a coach. Players like ronaldino, kanu nwankwo, are succeeding on their careers as a result of the coaching tips they acquired overtime. It been said that behind an able man is other able men. Success in life is guaranteed if you can stand on the shoulders of giants in your field and learn from them.
LESSON 2
As a player on life’s pitch you must TRAIN if you desire to REIGN. Football players never underestimate the regimen of training .No matter how talented you are, it still takes training to turn your talent into a skill. That is what John Maxwell the American leadership said I his book titled: ‘Talent is not enough’. If you are not working at your game to the utmost of your ability, there will be someone out there somewhere with equal ability who will be working to the utmost of his ability and when one day you play each other , he will have the advantage.
LESSON 3
No matter how skillful you are as player injuries are INEVITABLE. Injuries are parts of the prerequisite for identifying great football players. This principle is also applicable on the pitch of life. Same way injuries are inevitable in the game of football are adversities inevitable in the game of life. But each time we are carried away in a stretcher by the tornadoes of life, we must choose to rise again and prove that adversity carries within it a seed of equal opportunity.
LESSON 4
You must play like you will never have another CHANCE. In the game of football so many teams lose opportunities they should have converted into goals hoping those opportunities will come again. In life don’t ever think that if you fail to maximize an opportunity, you will get another. The game of life must be played like the game of football within a time frame and I can bet you won’t be here forever. The bible says: “There is a time for everything “.You must live life as though it is your last. Seize the moment and maximize every circumstance wring it off its possibilities.
LESSON 5
Half time is the time to REST and evaluate your performance. May be so far in life, you ve been training hard, juggling balls, and striving to give your best, dear friend, now is the time to relax, take a break from that project, course, and evaluate your performance. What have you done so far? What other ways can you achieve your goals? How can you score goals and become a champion in life’s game?
LESSON 6
You as a player on life’s pitch must resolve to SCORE GOALS. In the game of football it is really not about your advantages or disadvantages, it is rather a function of being able to convert your opportunities into goals. Same way in life it’s not your ability to have plans, dreams and aspirations, what really counts is being able to take bold steps towards turning your visions into fruition.
LESSON 7
Play to the rules of the REFREE.Every football match has an official called the referee, whose duty is to make sure players play to the rules of the game. As a participant in the game of life, you need to partner with God who happens to be the referee that controls the affairs of life. It is wise to play by his rules and stick to his “dos and don’ts “.He who swims with God never gets to the bottom. Good must always have his place in our lives. I hope you’ve been able to capture lessons that will transform your life and take you from where you are to where you need to be.
