Nigeria, a land of titans;
You have been through thick and thin,
But still you hold your head up high;
Been down in the depths of despair at various times,
But through it all, your resilience shines through,
The stronghold of our faith;
Dynamic in the midst of diversity;
Hoping against hope, in spite of everything;
A land that defies simple definition;
Jubilee, a time to be free,
From the shackles of corruption,
Sabotage and mediocrity;
A time to re-enact the champion in us;
A genius although they say crude,
But always comes through eventually;
A time to reassert our belief,
That things can be better;
But we have only got to set to work on it realistically.
Stayed strong even through the throes of despair;
Kept it all together, even in the midst of pain and seeming lack;
When it seemed like all was in shambles,
Suddenly hope bursts forth and
Brings out the champion in us;
Been through major crises;
Been through the war;
Been through the depression;
Yet still holding out strong;
The eagle, a true symbol of our strength;
Flying in the eye of the storm;
Riding above the crests;
Swimming against the tide,
But always emerging on the other side,
Stronger and better;
Reality says there is still so much to do;
But we stay positive,
Knowing that we can still get it right.
