A PILL that can kill cancers could be available in the near future, British scientists have said.
Breakthroughs have been made in identifying crucial flaws in the disease’s DNA, say expert workings on vaccines.
Certan cancers are UNABLE TO REPAIR THE STRUCTURE of their own damaged cells and researchers are now testing drugs that identify and kill those cells.
The new pills or injections could wipe out cancerous cells in the body, leaving healthy ones alone.
Pioneering British research on decoding DNA thr0ugh the Human Genome Project has been hailed for aiding the potential cancer treatments.
The project , complet in 1999, maped the 3.6 million ‘letters’ tat make up the human genetic sequence.It helped experts target cance cells with damaged DNA and could mean patients are spared chemotherapy and radiotheraphy which can harm healthy cells.From thetest carried out, all the mutant cells are killed but the normal cells are not really touched.
Potential ,that translates into much more powerful treatments but much fewer side-effects.And in ten years time the right treatment and corresponding regime for particular patient should have been IDENTIFED.
