Our Nation is going into extiction gradually.
Dignity for labour is now ‘Old tale’ and a forgotten issue.
The Core Values that are suppose to be upheld have finally faded away .
All over the screen (T.V) including Radio, it’s either one reality programme or the other. Win a million -either in Naira or Dollar.
I am afraid of what our generation would be reaping as a result of the core values that have been dragged in the mud.
I am not against dancing or any other form of talent to be exhibited. Here in Nigeria in the past four to five years now it has been REALITY, REALITY and ‘NON RELEVANT REALITIES’.
Our Government have succeeded in destroying the Academic sector of this Nation. I believe the media is the most powerful resources in any nation (They were established for EDUCATION, INFORMATION,ORIENTATION and ENTERTAINMENT). The latter has now become the core focus of every media houses in Nigeria.
Brains are no longer celebrated rather mediocrity are far more recognised. Everybody wants to become A SUPERSTAR OR DIVA in singing , dancing or acting.Where are the ages of Quiz, POEM, LITERARY AND DEBATES, ESSAY WRITING…EXCHANGE PROGRAMMES , INTER-SCHOOL EDUCATIONAL COMPETITIONS? They are gone !!
I see DANGER…DANGER…DANGER… everywhere looming over this nation if a stop is not put to this menance of REALITY SHOWS , WIN million promo.
An adage in Yoruba says that..’It is only what you work hard for that will last’ and ‘A house built with ashes, it would be pulled down with dews’. Parents too are not left out, all they want is Money- the source, the majority don’t care.
Here is my submission:
We (Zain) as a telecommunication company should embrace more of brain developing programmes and promos too before we ‘scatter’ our Million (Naira/ Dollars) to the citizenry of this great nation. We are not in this game to copy anyone rather let us be a Pacesetter for other companies too.
I give kudos to us for the Zain Africa Challenge 2009. This type of programme will encourage the Youth to respect brains(not 419 brains) and strive hard to wanted to be like those people that do their nation proud as a result of their HARDWORK.
