I dare you to look in your browser’s cache of saved files. You might be surprised at seeing many megabytes of files wasting space. Not only that, but tracking cookies, adware and malicious files may be sitting there sending your info to someone else.
You can be proactive in clearing out all this junk tho, and one of the things to do is to clear your browser’s cache. Of course there are programs that can do this for you, but in the meantime I’ve included some tips for clearing out several of the popular browse’s leftovers!
To clear the cache in Internet Explorer:
Click the ‘Tools’ menu at the top of your browser, and select ‘Internet Options’.
Click the ‘General’ tab at the top of the dialogue box.
Click ‘Delete Files’ under ‘Temporary Internet files’.
Select ‘Delete all offline content’ by checking the box.
Click ‘OK’.
To clear the cache in Mozilla and Netscape:
Click the ‘Edit’ menu at the top of your browser, and select ‘Preferences’.
Click the ‘+’ next to ‘Advanced’.
Select ‘Cache’ under ‘Advanced’.
Click ‘Clear Cache’.
Click ‘OK’.
To clear the cache in Mozilla Firefox:
Click the ‘Tools’ menu at the top of your browser, and select ‘Options’.
Click ‘Privacy’.
Click ‘Clear’ next to ‘Cache’.
Click ‘OK’.
To clear the cache in Opera:
Click the ‘Tools’ menu at the top of your browser, and select ‘Delete private data …’
Make sure that ‘Delete temporary cookies’, ‘Delete all cookies’ and ‘Delete entire cache’ is selected.
Click ‘OK’.
To clear the cache in Safari:
Open the ‘Safari’ menu on your browser’s toolbar.
Select ‘Empty Cache’
Click ‘Empty’ in the dialogue box.
