TWO ACCUSED OF CAUSING GRIEVOUS HURT

TWO accused persons, Chiamaka Chidume and John Mugu, both of Apo mechanic village, Abuja, were yesterday arraigned before an Abuja Upper Area Court for causing grievous hurt to one Gabriel Ugada of the same address and thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 245 of the Penal Code.

The police prosecutor, Ambi Ayuba, had earlier told the court that on October 28, 2010, one Gabriel Ugada reported at the Garki police station that the accused persons formed common intention and fought him.

He informed the court that when one Helen Aji, Joy Ugada and Martha Hindam all of Apo village, came to settle the fight, the accused persons used a bottle to inflict deep injuries on their body.

When the charge was read to the accused persons, they pleaded not guilty and requested for bail which was not objected to by the prosecutor.

Judge Umar Yusuf Kagarko granted the each of the accused persons bail in the sum of N 100,000 with a reliable surety in like sum, who must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and swear to an affidavit to produce the accused persons in court on the adjourned date.

The case was adjourned to December 15 for hearing.
