COURT REMANDS SUSPECTED CAR THIEF

AN Abuja Magistrate Court yesterday ordered that a young suspected car thief be remanded in police custody for allegedly stealing three cars and being in possession of fabricated master keys

Paul Abiodun was arrested by men of Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) over possession of three cars suspected to have been stolen within the Federal capital Territory

He was alleged to have stolen a Honda Accord car with registration number FM184ABJ, a Nissan Sunny with registration number BT574RPS and another Nissan Sunny car with registration XQ291ABJ.

The police said the cars and some fabricated master keys were recovered from his possession

Police prosecutor, Umoh Inah, a sergeant, told the court that on May 15 information reached a team of anti-robbery policemen from the FCT Police Command, indicating that the accused was in possession of some fabricated master keys.

“During police investigations, a Honda Accord car and two Nissan Sunny cars were recovered from the possession of the accused and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 287 of the Penal Code. “the prosecutor said.

The accused denied the allegation and requested for bail, a request for bail, a request that was vehemently opposed by the prosecutor on the grounds that the accused might jump bail or interfere with the investigations

Upholding the prosecutors prayer, Magistrate Hadiza Shagari ordered that the accused be remanded in police custody.
