Man arraigned over certificate forgery

THE police on Friday arraigned a suspected certificate counterfeiter before an Abuja Magistrate Court for allegedly forging a primary school testimonial of Wuse II Primary School, Abuja.

Oluwaseun Ayinde of no fixed address was reported to have gone to the National Assembly Complex parading himself as the rightful owner of the certificate.

On October 4, the accused was said to have gone to the assembly and entered some of the offices showing a copy of a primary school testimonial.

Prosecutor Adoche Isenyo, a sergeant, informed the court that the testimonial was bearing the name of one Mohammed Yakubu, who completed his primary school at Wuse II Primary School, Abuja.

When the accused was interrogated about the testimonial, he could not satisfy the police with the evidence he provided,” the prosecutor said.

According to the prosecutor, the inability of the accused to explain where he got   the testimonial from, means he has committed offences punishable under sections 348 and 364 of the Penal Code.

When the two-count charge was read to the accused, he denied the allegations and was granted bail in the sum of N100,000 with a responsible surety in like sum.

The case was adjourned to October 27 for hearing.
